What’s New in ClickUp AI for 2026?

Summary: ClickUp AI is rapidly evolving from a productivity assistant into a centralized, agent-driven operating system for modern businesses. If you’re looking to upgrade the way your team plans, executies, and analyzes work in 2026, you want to get onboard with the latest innovations such as ClickUp’s BrainGPT.

Where is ClickUp AI Headed in 2026?

ClickUp is our work management software of choice at Tuck, and our clients seek out our expertise not just in the best way to solve small business and nonprofit challenges in ClickUp, or in project management best practices generally, but in future-proofing their operations and tech stack for the longterm.
AI is here to stay, and while it may still be a massive bubble, its most promising functionality still looms large. We leverage ClickUp AI and ClickUp Brain primarily for analyzing unstructured data from our work and project tasks, and to leverage any of the top large language models (including GPT-5.1, Claude Opus 4.1, and Gemini 3 Pro) and the power of generative AI to accelerate common business processes. Outlining communications and meeting notes, drafting tasks and step-by-step checklists, summarizing activity, and automatically updating related tasks — these are super useful features in ClickUp only available with AI.

So, while ClickUp remains at the forefront of work management and AI business tools, where are we going in 2026? Here are some of the most recent, game-changing updates and some we expect to see in 2026 that will reinvent how you use ClickUp and operate your organization.

ClickUp Brain is so maxed, it’s now BrainGPT

ClickUp launched an AI-centric companion app, BrainGPT (formerly BrainMAX) allowing users to utilize ClickUp AI and access their workspace data in exciting new ways. Literally speak your mind with Talk to Text, then watch your commands create and update tasks in ClickUp. And level it up again with the BrainGPT Chrome Extension: summarize, search, and create tasks right from within Chrome, using your voice. Talk to Text’s voice capabilities are amazing: quick, accurate transcription speeds up my daily work (especially drafting blog posts like this!) saving me 5-10 hours every week. And I don’t have to hunch over the keyboard all day.

Centralized, Supercharged AI Agents

ClickUp AI Agents have so far existed as either Chat Agents or List Agents, behaving differently based on the type of input method (scanning for relevant chat messages, or triggering on specific tasks). This meant that how the agent is setup dictates how you engage with it, and where you find it.

Soon, agents in ClickUp will be centralized for much simpler everyday use and management. Wherever you want to run an Agent, you can summon it with an @ tag to create more scalable, repeatable agentic workflows. This unlocks a whole arena of templates with prebuilt agents! And just wait until you see all the Agent customization options. They don’t call them Super Agents for nothing.

Search and Analyze Emails with Connected Search

With Connected Search, your integrated Gmail emails are now searchable directly from within ClickUp. Ask ClickUp AI about your email, see answers that reflect all of your work in one place, and stop tabbing away to check your email midstream! In 2026, ClickUp plans to incorporate Outlook as well, opening the wild world of Connected Search even further for our Microsoft partners.

Technically Speaking: 3rd Party AI Agents and MCP Server Access

Continuous improvements to ClickUp’s new third-party AI agents with Cursor and Codegen! Cursor — the vibe coders’ tool of choice — works to improve code navigation and awareness, and the Codegen agent automates code generation to streamline your work.

Geek out, interators! The new ClickUp MCP server release lets you connect ClickUp Brain with external MCP servers to leverage more tools, actions, and integrations.
