FAQs About Project Management From Other Small Business Owners
How can I stay organized as a small business?
Staying organized as a small business can be challenging. Understanding how to effectively delegate tasks to tools and people through strong systems and project management practices helps. For example, you may want to delegate tracking leads to a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, like Hubspot. You may want to delegate content to a marketing consultant.
Some articles we recommend are:
- Understanding the “main characters” in small business projects
- Why small business projects tend to derail & how to fix it.
- Tips for resourcing for small business projects
What tools should a small business use for project management?
At Tuck, we’re huge ClickUp advocates. You can learn more about ClickUp for small businesses here.
But this answer truly depends on your team’s preferences. There’s plenty of incredible project management tools out there. We recommend tuning into our podcast, Project Zero, to hear from other project leaders about their favorite tools and why.
How can a small business begin implementing project management practices?
At the end of the day, you can throw as many tools and people at your business at you want. It will come down to the project management frameworks that the tools and people live within. Which is what this series aims to fix. We recommend the following articles:
- Understanding why project managers are important to small businesses
- Examples of how project teams function in different companies
- How to utilize your small business resources effectively
Even better, sometimes you need a seasoned vet to come in and show you the ropes. If you need some fractional project management help to get you on your feet, schedule some time to meet our Managing Principal, Alex Tuck, here.

Green Project Management: 5 Tips to Eliminate Waste
Tuck is a consulting firm focused on project management; of course we’re going to apply project management principles to address this problem – specifically, lean project management. For Tuck consultants and clients, waste comes in the form of misallocated effort and time. The way we check our email, manage documents, and even how we run our workstations have an impact on the environment.
Here are five strategies for minimizing such waste.
